cigar box guitar fretboards Exotic Pre -slotted fretboards .. Black limba ..Condition is "New". Shipped with USPS Retail Ground. For your consideration i offer these very nice exotic hardwood cigar box guitar fretboards. This exotic hardwood is known as black Limba . A beautiful dense , durable and terrific sounding African tonewood. it is visually appealing and has excellent tonal qualities and durability. as you can see from the pics it isn't actually black usually just the figure is black or dark as opposed to white Limba which has a more uniform light figure. it is popular with highend custom shop instrument builders and is usually only found on highend custom instruments. These are already pre slotted for you accurately! 21 fret positions 24 " scale lenght. Slotted with the most accurate templates and highest quality Fret slotting blade available to ensure if you use these boards your instrument will play in tune with accurate intonation. Slots are .023 to accept standard guitar fretwire tangs. These boards are approximately 1-1/2" wide and 1/4" thick and should fit most cigarbox guitar necks or just buy a board 1-1/2" wide which should be readily available almost anywhere. These boards are surfaced to 220 on the playing face . 80 on the bottom glue up surface.80 is optimal for glue surfaces because you get better adhesion. These particular boards have also been lightly pore filled on the playing surface .this process has several benefits it enhances the figure, makes for a slightly smoother playing surface and makes for more stable and strong board . if you wish too you can give them a final light sanding to 400 grit to achieve butter smooth action but it isn't necessary. This is a Great deal on some quality boards that can take your next build to another level .much better looking and sounding than cheap oak or poplar fretboards most builders use and aren't really suitable for instrument building. Be aware every piece of wood has it's own unique figuring and grain pattern. No 2 pieces are identical
. The board pictured may or may not be the actual board you receive as i have several of these and each as it's own unique figure and grain . This is very good quality tonewood usually only found on very expensive custom shop instruments. Every professional instrument builder knows
if you want to build a instrument that looks good plays well and sounds great you have to start with quality tonewood .
if you want a quality instrument you should as well.
